Upper Eastern Region consists of Marsabit, Isiolo, Samburu and Laikipia counties. The peace and security concerns in the region include cattle rustling, inter -communal/ethnic conflict, violent extremism (Marsabit and Isiolo counties), resource-based conflicts, VAWG, Human-wildlife conflict (Laikipia and Isiolo counties). Other emerging conflicts are linked to development in the region.
REINVENT interventions in the region focus on:
- Strengthening police response to peacebuilding engagements
- Supporting efforts to address violence against women and girls,
- Prevention/Countering Violent extremism
- Engaging Government, Private Sector and local communities in Conflict sensitive development project consultations.
